Safeguarding

Safeguarding

Children and young people have the right to be protected from harm. Families have a right to expect schools to provide a safe and secure environment. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.

As a church school, we recognise that every child is loved and valued by God and our actions as a school should reflect this. We aim to protect our children by working consistently and appropriately with all agencies to reduce risk and promote the welfare of  children.

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is defined in ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ as:

  • providing help and support to meet the needs of children as soon as problems emerge
  • protecting children from maltreatment, whether that is within or outside the home, including online
  • preventing the impairment of children’s mental and physical health or
    development
  • ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care
  • taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes
