Attendance and absence

Attendance and absence

Every day in school is a learning opportunity and we work with families to encourage regular, punctual attendance from all of our pupils.

The expected national attendance rate is 96.4% and our school target is 96.5% attendance.

We regularly monitor attendance and where a child’s attendance is giving cause for concern, the Headteacher will write to parents in the first instance, and also offer them the opportunity to come and speak to her to see how attendance can be improved. Ongoing low attendance may be referred to the Education Welfare Officer.

Term Time Holidays

Schools are only able to grant authorisation for pupils to take time off school during term time for exceptional circumstances.  Should you need to take your child out of school during term time, please complete and return the Exceptional Leave Request Form ( below) to the Headteacher, who will then assess your application and confirm whether or not the school is able to authorise leave.  Please note that 10 sessions  (5 days) or more of unauthorised absence in a 6 month period usually results in a Penalty Notice being issued by Wiltshire Council.
