Term 1 - Rivers
Science Term 1 – States of Matter
This term in Science we have been investigating and observing states of matter in lots of ways. We have explored the investigation questions: ‘Is custard a liquid?’ and ‘How long will it take for Miss Smith’s tea to cool?’. Additionally, we observed melting using chocolate buttons!
Topic Term 1 – Rivers
We were lucky enough this term to have a visitor from Wessex Water come and teach us all about water. We learnt about the water cycle, water in our area and what goes down the plug…
Term 2 - Ancient Greece
Science Term 2 – Electricity
This term we focused on electricity and were able to build simple series circuits with a cell, bulb, wires and test a variety of materials to see if they were conductors or insulators. We were able to categorise the materials based on this and discussed how the flow of electricity was impacted by the materials we chose.
Term 3 - South America
Topic Term 3 – South America
Starting our topic theme by going on an ‘aeroplane’ all the way to South America, we launched our learning this term! We have looked at the 12 countries of South America and the human and physical features of the continent. We explored the Andes in detail, and considered how trade, culture and populations differ between regions. Rounding off our learning, we made PowerPoint presentations showing a case study of one South American country.
