This term we have been in studying the ‘Natural wonders of the world’

and Class 3 have really enjoyed researching and learning about all

the different wonders and how the lives and cultures of people around

the world vary.

Within our science topic we have been learning about animals, including humans, which covered a range of topics including healthy eating, the skeleton and the muscles.

To end our topic we are going on a class farm trip to River Bourne

Community Farm, which will consolidate our learning.

Our topic for the Summer term will be ‘Treasures’, focusing on

Stone Age - Iron Age Britain, we will kick start this topic with a trip to

Salisbury museum where we will take part in a day long workshop.

In Literacy, we will begin the term by looking at adventure stories and the

difference in the language used in comparison to other genres, we will be

basing our study on the Hodgeheg by Dick King-Smith.

After the Easter holidays, we will come back to begin the maths topic of

place value and money, so any practise with calculating change or costs of

items during the time off will be useful.

In Science, we will be taking a chemistry focus and studying types of rocks

and fossilisation, so we will get a chance to look at the different fossils

which have been discovered millions of years ago.

We will begin to use for our homework and the children will be given their login details in school.

In a couple of weeks time we will set homework on Mathletics, and these tasks will need to be completed before children can access the rest of the site.

Spellings: each week your child will be given a list of spellings to learn for the following week, these spellings will consist of words we may come across in our learning and words year 3 are expected to know. I am sure your children will appreciate any help you can give them with learning  their spellings.
