Spring 1

In literacy this term, we have been learning about writing persuasive letters. We begun the term reading the book ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’, finding lots of persuasive language. Then after the weekend, we came back to school and our chairs had quit! The chairs had written us a letter explaining that they were sick and tired of us tipping on them and forgetting to tuck them in, so until they received an apology, they are not coming back. We had to spend the day writing letters to persuade the chairs to come back, it was very uncomfortable writing on the floor all day!

We then used everything we had learnt to write letters to Mrs Walker, trying to persuade her to allow us to have a pyjama day, we gave lots of reasons why it would be beneficial to us. Luckily, she was very impressed by our letters and said yes!

We have started this term learning about our bodies in science. For our first lesson, we identified parts of the body and placed them in the correct place.

Autumn 2

In science this term, we have been learning about materials. We worked in groups to design and build bridges using different materials.

We added weights to the bridge until it broke and recorded how much weight the bridge could hold. The winner was the stick bridge which held 1300g before it broke!

We went on a visit to St. Andrew’s Church as part of our RE lesson. We learnt about the different areas of the church as what they are used for.

Autumn 1

In class, we have been making African masks using paper mache. We looked at some real examples of African masks and used some of the geometrical patterns within our own.

We have had an exciting start to Class 2 with our topic of Africa.

In science, we researched different habitats and created posters to show the features of our habitat.

We had a zoom visit from Lucy Noguera who has just published her first book, Swop – The Satsuma-Sized Secret.
