Class Five:

Miss Lawrence (teacher) Miss Budworth (teaching assistant)

We, in Class Five, are a creative bunch and we have been blessed with

many talents. We all work well as a team; supporting each other in our

learning and caring for one another!

It is almost Easter and we have had a very busy term in Year 5.

We have learned lots about the Vikings- from Gods to weapons.

We particularly enjoyed our Viking day as we were able to act out Viking

stories, learn how fire was made and play traditional Viking games.

We have also applied what we have learned to our literacy topics,

creating newspaper reports.

Along with our topic, we have also had the exciting opportunity to partake

in two different singing workshops and performances. Each Friday we have

been rehearsing various opera songs, ready to perform in June.

In the last week of this term, we shall be performing African themed

songs at the City Hall.

Next term our topic will be Ancient Greece! We will learn all about their

lifestyles, the Gods they believed in and the myths they told.

In literacy we will be writing biographies, myths, poetry and

descriptive writing.

In maths we will concrete our learning so far by applying our knowledge to

solve problems and we will also cover measures in more detail.

It is expected that your child completes 10 minutes of reading daily and practice their spellings daily.
On top of this a Mathletics task will be set weekly, along with a grammar exercise.
Children can then choose an additional task from the below grid to complete fortnightly. Your child is not expected to complete each activity from the grid, just the ones which appeal most to them.
